Arica-Chile: A Surfers Delight
Now it is easy to say you want to get away for your vacation to Chile from your stressful, managerial, GP locum jobs but it is another thing to actually do it. Especially if you a lover of surfing. So here is one more good reason to get going.
One of the best places in Chile fro surfing is Arica or the City of Eternal Spring. Now most people know about the Lauca National Park and what is to be seen there. But the beaches of this city is considered one of the worlds more premier surf destinations. The surf breaks are simply exhilarating and the temperature is certainly warm enough.
Surfer flock this area not only because they love the waves but also because of the people there. The Chileans are really friendly and helpful people so even if you do not know how to surf chances are you can find one of them to give you lessons.
If you are a much more adventurous and seasons surfer then you will definitely want to try out those massive and challenging waves at El Buey and El Gringo just off Alacran Island.
Wave at El Buey can reach up to 600ft and wont start breaking until it is close to 8ft. Now this is a ride if there ever is one. Now if you plan your visit between April and August you will see the waves at their biggest with barrelling tubes that are near perfect.
Now if the surf is not enough to hold you then you can enjoy the sites, cuisine, culture and the party atmosphere that is Arica.
